'Ben'
Hi, my name is Ben and I started ThES in August of 1997. I'll tell you up front
that I started ThES because my mom owns NeuroTherapeutics and wanted to check ThES out.
She wasn't too sure, but knew it couldn't hurt.
The best thing about ThES is watching my mom - she stands there half the day just watching
me and grinning. I'm doing things she never thought I'd do. My progress has been so much
easier and faster since ThES. It used to be so hard to meet those silly goals they wrote in
my chart and now I'm meeting them ahead of time... My mom just grins! At first, she let me
get away with anything if I WALKED over to do it. She was so excited with the walking that
she forgot to discipline me, but she's over her shock now and making me toe the line a little
more!
After 9 months on ThES, my therapist wasn't ready to move my electrodes from my legs to my
trunk, but my mom got impatient and bought a 2nd machine for my trunk - she had to pay for
it because the insurance wouldn't, but she was so excited she said it was worth it. It's
made a big change in my walking. It feels so good to be able to do new things that I keep
trying even more difficult things. I climbed my first tree last summer! I sent a picture to
my doctor!
